LBCC was a returning sponsor and participant in the Shannon Sporting Clay Shoot. Our team consisted of Mike White (VP of Operations), George Campbell (Superintendent), Earl Johnston (Superintendent), Jennifer Maxwell (Business Development), Alex Adams (Guest), and Robert Hartgrove (Guest).

The 18th Annual Shannon Sporting Clay Shoot was held Saturday, July 22 at the San Angelo Claybird Association in San Angelo, Texas. After 18 very successful years, the event is still the largest charity shoot in Texas attracting more than 700 shooters and 1,500 spectators and volunteers. This event continues its success and is able to help countless patients, staff members and area EMS personnel because of the outstanding support from individuals and businesses throughout Texas and the Concho Valley.

All proceeds raised at this year’s shoot benefited the following programs at Shannon Medical Center:

  • AirMed1 – Support for region served – Shannon AirMed1, celebrating 22 years of service, is the Concho Valley’s only Air Ambulance, bringing critical emergency care directly to the patient.  They work in partnership with many outlying EMS services and hospitals throughout the region and will use proceeds to provide equipment and education to these organizations to further improve patient outcomes.
  • Diabetes Management Outreach – This program promotes earlier detection of diabetes, a disease that affects more than 12,000 Tom Green County residents.
  • Oncology Angel Fund
  • Outpatient Dialysis – Shannon Medical Center administers more than 24,100 dialysis treatments in the Concho Valley each year through its dialysis program. The Outpatient Dialysis Fund will provide financial assistance to these patients for emergency medications, food, counseling, and, when the opportunity for transplant arises, travel and lodging expenses.
  • Palliative Care Fund
  • Patient Benevolence Fund
  • Shannon Care Coordination – This unique program involves a partnership between a team of healthcare professionals from Shannon Medical Center and a group of pre-med students from Angelo State University. Through frequent home visits from the ASU students and healthcare team, high risk patients with multiple diseases learn to bettermanage their health conditions. The goal is to improve the patients overall long term health and well-being while reducing the need for frequent hospitalizations.
  • Shared Governance/Education Programs – The Shannon Shared Governance provides educational opportunities to Shannon nursing staff for specialized workshops and conferences outside of the organization.  These educational experiences offer an opportunity for staff to enhance their patient care knowledge, learn from colleagues and develop innovative ideas to further enhance patient care.
